Over the last few years many people's lifestyle has changed significantly; this applies to materials and furniture, and - in terms of HiFi - in particular the size dan design of systems and loudspeakers.

Unfortunately - and T+A uses that word as loudspeaker manufacturers of thirty years' standing - this means that speaker cabinets have to become ever smaller. This is unfortunate, since the laws of physics dictate that the bass and low frequency reproduction of a loudspeaker depend directly on the volume of the cabinet and the surface area of the cone, and that is why T+A is still enjoying great success building large transmission-line loudspeakers. However, it is possible to tease a large sound out of a relatively small cabinet by employing great expertise and sophisticated design, and that is precisely what T+A have now accomplished with the TALIS and LIGNUM ranges.

The cabinets of the TALIS series are made using extruded aluminium profiles, whereas the LIGNUM cabinets consist of laminated hardwood. Both technologies enable the engineers of T+A to use relatively thin walls, leaving large net volumes for bass reproduction. The overall result is the best of both worlds: the aesthete enjoys beautiful slender cabinets, while the audiophile revels in superb sound quality!

Gently rounded front grilles and plinths give the cabinets an even more elegant appearance. The standard finishes are aluminium, black and white, which are a superb match to the latest trends in furnishing. The acoustic characteristics and qualities of the new TALIS loudspeakers offer further significant improvements. Reinforced baffles have enabled us to install recessed, flush-mounted driver units, and the result is a clear enhancement in linearity of frequency response even off-axis, providing a further improvement in the already first-class radiation characteristics in the mid-range.
