About Prof. Peter Raacke
Born 1928 in Hanau, Germany, Peter Raacke learnt the trade as a goldsmith after leaving school and accomplished the examination as Master Enameller in 1954. From 1958 to 1993 he tought industrial design in Kassel, at the reknowned University of Design in Ulm as well as the University of Applied Arts in Hamburg.
His lifework comprises multiple stages of his development - from being an artisan to becoming an avantgardistic industrial designer.

His reduced, funtional designs with often ecological and commercial targeting are characteristics for his handwriting, like e.g. his 'Cardboard Chairs for Unpropertied', 1968 or the 7 Things, a geometrical, multi-colored cardboard toy set for children.

1958 Peter Raacke created the design classic mono-a, the most successful design cutlery set of the post war period.

In 2003 the 'Deutsche Technikmuseum' in Berlin conceived a retrospective about the industrial designer Peter Raacke. Today, the co-founder of the 'Werkbund Saar' and the Alliance of German Industrial Designers lives in Berlin.

The photos 2-5 show extracts of the original product leaflet from 1968. We have published them with kind permission of the manufacturer.
