It is well known that the three primary colours RED, YELLOW and BLUE can be mixed to create an infinite number of colours. With colouring the whole colour variety of the colour wheel can be joyfully recreated. Piece by piece the various colour shades assemble creating a fluent transition as each mixed colour becomes visible: Between red and yellow lies ORANGE, between yellow and blue lies GREEN and between blue and red lies VIOLET. These are the secondary colours. An infinite amount of colour possibilities lies in between. Complementary colours are opposite to each other on the colour wheel. Thus they are also called opponent colours.
Interestingly the three primary colours red, yellow and blue cannot be achieved by mixing any other colours.
